Githa Sowerby, also known by penname K. G. Sowerby and also just by her initials, is best known for her play Rutherford and Son. Born in Gateshead, her family the Sowerby’s were a local glass-making family. A noted feminist as well as a playwright she wrote a number of children’s books, including a number of retellings of classic fairy tales Cinderella and Grimm’s Fairy Tales.
